Weekend Snow Favors Utah

A storm over the weekend brought a decent shot of snow to parts of the Cascades and Sierra, while the storm strengthened over Utah and Colorado on Sunday. Snowbird appears to be one of the biggest winners of this storm with 14 inches of snow reported as of Sunday afternoon.

Forecast for Mon (Nov 20) to Tue (Nov 21):

Light snow will linger across the Central/Southern Rockies on Monday before drying out on Tuesday as high pressure takes control of the pattern. Further north, a storm will bring heavy snow to the Northern Coast Range in British Columbia.

A storm will move across the Great Lakes and reach parts of the Northeast by late Tuesday with a mix of rain, snow, and sleet/freezing rain expected.

Forecast for Wed (Nov 22) to Thu (Nov 23):

A strong storm will impact the Northeast on Wednesday with moderate to heavy snow for New England, though some areas will see a transition to rain or mixed precipitation as warmer air arrives toward the end of the storm.

A weak storm will also sneak into the Northern Rockies on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) with light snow expected. Further north, a storm will bring heavy snow to Southeast Alaska.

Forecast for Fri (Nov 24) to Sat (Nov 25):

The Rockies storm will continue to progress southward on Friday with light to moderate snow spreading into Colorado and New Mexico. Cold air will also filter into the Rockies on the backside of this system. Further north, storms will continue to slam Alaska with heavy snow.

The East will dry out briefly after Thanksgiving, followed by another possible storm on Saturday or Sunday (this particular model projects an arrival on Sunday, just beyond this forecast period).

Outlook for Sun (Nov 26) to Thu (Nov 30):

The West is looking dry during this period with a ridge of high pressure centered near the coast and the storm track remaining well to the north in Alaska. Temperatures will be on the warmer side of average across the Pacific Northwest, with cold and dry conditions expected across the Rockies.

Cold temperatures will also persist across the East with additional storms possible, which could bring snow to the Appalachians and New England.
