A Settled Spell, But Showers Sunday to Fall as Snow up High

Summary

The East Coast Low brought up to 10 cm of snow above 1700–1800 m, with a few centimetres reaching 1600 m on Thursday as temps cooled. A high will bring fine weather Friday and Saturday, before a weak low on Sunday delivers showers and 5–10 cm of snow up high. Monday looks fine again under another ridge.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Friday 4th and Saturday 5th July

Friday and Saturday will be mostly sunny, with northwest winds picking up and high cloud increasing over New South Wales on Saturday.

Forecast for Sunday 6th and Monday 7th July

On Sunday, showers spread across the Australian Alps in the morning with snow above 1700-1800m later, accumulating 5-10cm in New South Wales before clearing overnight. Monday will be partly sunny with winds shifting from southerly to northwest.

Extended Forecast

Models predict snowstorms will affect the Australian Alps from Tuesday, the 8th, to Friday, the 11th, with expected snowfall of 20 to 40cm, slightly less than earlier forecasts but still a welcome boost after recent rain.
