Final Post of the 2024 Season
Summary
Volcan Osorno is the only open resort in South America, and they will offer lift-serviced turns for one more weekend. This weekend will feature active weather with a few storms moving through the region and even some accumulating snow.
Update
This will be the final South America Daily Snow of the season.
Thank you so much for reading these forecasts and following along this season, and thanks for being an OpenSnow subscriber.
Onto the forecast!
You can still ski and snowboard at a resort for three more days, with the South American season ending on Sunday, November 3rd. Volcan Osorno is the last one standing and their closing weekend will feature some exciting weather. Two storms will impact the region this weekend with low snow levels and fresh snow. However, winds will be strong so they may have to call it quits a bit early.
By the end of the day on Sunday Volcan Osorno will have a fresh blanket of 10 - 25 cms, with most of that falling today (Friday) and Sunday. There will be some snow showers in between. Snow levels will be around or just above the base so some rain may mix in, especially during lighter precipitation.
Let's hope the winds aren't too bad and you can enjoy some soft turns during this brief return to winter. Here's the final snow map of the season showing totals through Sunday.
Thanks for reading the final South America Daily Snow this season!
