Warm and sunny, chance of PM thundershowers this weekend

Summary

Updated weather forecasts are looking better for a sunny weekend with warm afternoon temps in the 50s to even 60s at Lookout, Bogus and Pomerelle. There's a chance of afternoon thundershowers on Friday and Sunday with a chance of hail, graupel, etc. Should be a fun weekend with pond skims and cardboard box derbies, live music at Sun Valley and partying in the sunshine!

Short Term Forecast

My friend Ron found paradise on Upper Paradise with yellow wax on a sunny spring skiing day at Bogus Basin. He's surpassed skiing 600,000 vertical feet this season. Now that's dedication! He's enjoying being retired! (Courtesy Ron Abramovich)

Should be a fun weekend to close out the season at Schweitzer, where they'll have a cardboard box derby on Sunday from 1-3 p.m., and at Pomerelle, where they'll host a pond skim and Slush Cup event with live music on Saturday.

Looks like the mornings will be best because of thundershowers forecast in the afternoons, but hey, you could just duck into the lodge for a bit and ski/ride some more after the storms pass through! Springtime in the Rockies!

Extended Forecast

A Low Pressure trough and cold front will move through Idaho on Sunday night/Monday, and bring unstable weather during the week next week. Temperatures will cool down more into the 30s and 40s but I'm not seeing any substantial precipitation or snow coming our way during the week. Just light snow here and there.

Brundage, Bogus, Sun Valley, Silver Mountain and Lookout will be open next weekend for bonus weekends and end of season parties.

Thanks for reading ... my next post will be on Wednesday, April 17.
