Quiet Through the Weekend

Summary

We’ll finally see some calm and dry weather for more than just a couple days, with rushing expected to dominate Central Europe the rest of the week and through the weekend. The next chance for storms is around Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Short Term Forecast

Ridging over Central Europe will bring warm and dry conditions from Thursday through at least Monday. Temperatures will be well above normal during this period, with Saturday and Sunday likely the warmest.

The position of the ridge will result in warm southwest winds for several days. Early next week, the ridge will start to break down and move off to the east, allowing storms to approach from the West.

The latest guidance has this storm closing off and passing south of the Alps. This would bring the heaviest snow to the southern Alps. This storm doesn’t look too big at this time.

For the latter part of next week, more ridging is expected with a return to warm and dry conditions. Below is the upper-level pattern for Friday through early next week. You can see the ridge holding firm until next week followed by the storm moving in from the West and then heading south of the Alps.
