Another 20-40cm During Storm's Next Phase

Summary

A powerful snowstorm began Tuesday with strong winds and 15cm of snow at Perisher. After a brief lull Wednesday, a stronger front will bring heavy snow through Thursday and Friday, adding 20–40cm. Saturday will be calmer, before another front Sunday night delivers 5–15cm more by Monday morning.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Wednesday 9th July to Friday 11th July

Light snow returns Wednesday, building to heavier falls overnight with brisk northwest winds and low visibility. Thursday will be a classic powder day with heavy snow and blizzard-like conditions easing later, followed by lighter snow Friday that turns to rain at lower elevations as snow levels rise.

Forecast for Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th July

Saturday brings overcast skies and steady westerly winds, with light snow expected to arrive across Victorian resorts after dark. Sunday’s conditions will worsen as a front moves in, bringing increasingly heavy snow to higher elevations and powerful northwest winds, especially in exposed spots.

Extended Forecast

Next week looks unsettled, with a series of systems bringing gusty winds and regular snowfall, mainly affecting mid-mountain levels and especially active through the early part of the week.

Thanks for reading. The next forecast will be out on Friday.
