Australia Daily Snow

By Mike O'Connor, Meteorologist Posted 11 months ago August 9, 2024
Clear & Calm this Weekend
Summary
A light skiff of snow fell in Victoria Thursday night, and that's the only snowfall we'll see over the next several days. High pressure moving in this weekend will bring crystal clear skies and calm winds through Monday, providing great conditions to hit the slopes. Winds will pick up on Tuesday, and there is a chance of some light rain showers.
Short Term Forecast
Friday (9th August)
Victoria will have a foggy and drizzly start to Friday after a light skiff of snow fell the night before. Things will begin to clear up by late morning. However, light rain showers could appear around midday or early afternoon before clearing up again later. In New South Wales, clouds will disperse in the morning, leading to a fairly sunny day while northwest winds gradually die out.
Saturday to Tuesday (10th to 13th August)
Settled high pressure will bring stunning, clear, calm weather to the Australian Alps from Saturday to Monday. Temperatures will be mild, so no snowmaking is expected, and the snowpack will soften nicely each afternoon.
A weak front approaching from the west on Tuesday will see northwest winds strengthen and clouds increase with the chance of some light rain showers.
Extended Forecast
The weak front mentioned above may bring some light rain showers on Wednesday, the 14th August. Another front later next week may bring a mix of rain and snow, but we'll have to wait closer to the time to get a clearer picture on this.
Thanks for reading. I'll continue to provide these forecasts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday throughout the southern hemisphere season.
