A Few Small Storms to Watch
Summary
A small storm will bring some fresh snow to the Andes this week before ridging returns on Thursday. Another small storm is possible this weekend into early next week as well.
Short Term Forecast
After one more dry day, a relatively weak storm will move into the Andes on Monday night. Snow totals will range from 5 to 20 cm, likely deepest on the Chilean side of the central zone at resorts like Nevados de Chillan, Volcán Osorno, Antuco, and Las Araucarias. The northern zone looks to be on the fringe of the heavier precipitation, but a nudge north in the track could bring bigger totals there.
As the upper-level storm crosses the Andes, it is expected to close off and track northeast. This may enhance totals on the Argentinian side of the northern zone at resorts like Las Lenas. A cold front will begin to move through the region on Monday night, dropping snow levels below resort bases on Tuesday, and winds will be pretty mellow overall.
Here is the latest snow forecast from the European and American ensembles.
Snow will fall from Monday night through Tuesday, with some snow showers lingering into the overnight hours. We should start to dry out on Wednesday with temperatures warming up once again.
Extended Forecast
The next storm may arrive as early as Friday, with warm temperatures and rain to start. The models bring snow levels back down on Sunday with the arrival of a second wave and the possibility of accumulating snow in the Monday to Tuesday timeframe. It's still a bit early for additional details.
Next post on Wednesday.

Why is the Forecast Range helpful?
Understand if there is high or low confidence in the forecast. If all models show a similar forecast, there is higher confidence in the forecast, and vice versa.
Dig into the details. If you have experience looking at weather model data and trust certain models or higher-resolution models, you'll be able to isolate your favorite data.
