Weak Fronts with Light Snowfall

Summary

Australian resorts picked up 10–15 cm Sunday night, adding to last week’s 25–50 cm. Cloud and flurries will linger midweek, keeping upper slopes fresh but softening lower ones. Friday looks fine under high pressure, before more light snow and cloud arrive late Saturday into Sunday.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th July

Wednesday and Thursday will be cloudy with low visibility across the Australian Alps, especially in Victoria, where snow showers may bring up to 5 cm above 1400 m. New South Wales stays slightly brighter with only light flurries, before skies clear Thursday night.

Forecast for Friday 18th to Sunday 20th July

Friday brings sunshine, light winds, and ideal snowmaking conditions. The weekend starts fine, but cloud and light snow arrive late Saturday into Sunday, clearing to a crisp day as winds ease.

Extended Forecast

Next week’s forecasts are uncertain, with a front bringing rain and snow from July 22–24 and possible additional snow over the weekend of July 26–27 or early the following week.
