A Little More Snow Next Several Days before a Dry Weekend

Summary

Around 10 to 15 cm of snow fell Sunday night, with official figures due in morning reports. Light snow and chilly westerlies will continue through Thursday, adding another 5 to 15 cm before clear, settled weather returns Friday and into the weekend.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Monday 14th to Thursday 17th July

Cloudy, closed-in conditions continue across the Australian Alps with frequent snow flurries, especially in Victoria, and drizzle or damp weather below 1500–1600 m through to Thursday. Winds remain brisk and chilly, shifting between west, southwest, and northwest, with 1–5 cm of fresh snow likely by Tuesday evening and 5-15cm by the end of Thursday.

Forecast for Friday 18th  to Sunday 20th July

A ridge of high pressure on Friday will clear the lingering cloud and ease the cool westerlies. Dry weather will persist through the weekend, though northwest winds are expected to strengthen.

Extended Forecast

The models consistently indicate that starting around late Tuesday next week, July 22nd, the Aussie Alps will experience a stretch of active storms. There’s strong potential for deep powder, so stay tuned!

Thanks for reading. The next forecast will be out on Wednesday.
