Sunshine & Fresh Power For The Weekend, Light Snow Next Week

Summary

Early-week snowstorms delivered 30–50 cm of fresh powder across the resorts, with snowmakers adding even more thanks to cold temps. Conditions are excellent for late June, with calm weather ahead this weekend. A weak front may bring light flurries to Mt Baw Baw on Sunday and possibly other areas Monday, along with chilly southerlies.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June

Friday 27 June should be mostly clear with a gentle southerly, though Mt Baw Baw hangs onto some cloud. Saturday 28 June follows up with bright sunshine and a light nor’wester. By Sunday 29 June the weather remains largely fair, but cloud creeps into western Victoria as winds swing southwest; Mt Baw Baw could catch an afternoon burst of damp, sleety snow in marginal temps.

Extended Forecast

A developing Tasman low could bring light snow to the Aussie Alps between Monday and Thursday, with bursts of cold southerly winds that may be gusty at times. Some forecasts hint at heavier falls, but it’s still too early to be sure. Looking further ahead, models suggest more snow from a series of cold fronts late in the weekend and beyond.

Thanks for reading. The next forecast will be out early Monday.
