Opening Weekend Storm Track for Big Totals
Summary
A major Australian snowstorm will start late Friday, just in time for Opening Weekend Eve. Resorts can expect 45–70cm of snow from Friday to Monday, with most falling over the weekend. Strong winds and heavy snowfall will bring blizzard conditions and make travel difficult. Some snow will linger into Tuesday and Wednesday as the storm moves away.

Forecast for Friday 6th June to Monday 9th June: Opening Weekend Storm
A major snowstorm will bring blizzard conditions, heavy snowfall, and strong winds to the Australian Alps from Friday night through to Monday. Snow levels will drop steadily, possibly reaching as low as 1000m by Sunday night. The heaviest snow is expected over the weekend, with conditions easing by Monday as the storm moves away, though some snow may linger. Travel will be difficult during this period due to blizzard conditions and low snow levels.
Extended Forecast
Leftover showers will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday as the storm heads toward New Zealand. Snow may stay above base levels for most of Tuesday before dropping again on Wednesday. The latter part of the week should be mostly dry, with high pressure bringing a calm and settled weekend.
