Rayleigh Scattering

Summary

If ever asked why the sky is blue, the simple answer "Rayleigh scattering". Named after Lord Rayleigh who published a paper in 1871 explaining how air molecules scatter the blue wavelength of sunlight most effectively, hence why the sky appears blue. One of the many questionably useful things I learned in Meteorology school.
